Job summary

Oregon Health & Science University (OHSU) seeks an experienced Enterprise Coding Manager to lead multi-specialty coding operations and support the Coder Auditor/Trainer team. You will align daily workflows with long-term quality, compliance, and staff development across an academic health system.

You will partner with coders, auditors, trainers, and revenue cycle leaders to improve education, policies, and processes, while guiding hiring, succession planning, and performance initiatives.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Health Information Management or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Minimum 3 years of management or supervisory experience.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in healthcare setting.
• CPC, CCS, or equivalent certification.
• Knowledge of ICD-9-CM, ICD-10-CM, CPT, HCPC coding guidelines.
• Knowledge of coding and documentation compliance related to CMS, JACHO, COP and other regulatory agencies is required.
• Strong communication (oral and written).
• Leadership methods in performance improvement/quality management.
• Strong knowledge of ICD-10, CPT, HCPCS.
• Knowledge of CMS and compliance requirements.
• Ability to manage staff performance and workflows.
• Strong communication and analytical skills.
• Knowledge of revenue cycle operations.
• Ability to effectively problem solve and mitigate complex coding scenarios.

Responsibilities

• Guide coding operations, including workflow, staffing, workload distribution, and capacity planning for assigned areas.
• Coach and develop Coding Specialists and coding support staff while building a culture of accountability, teamwork, learning, and respect.
• Partner with other coding leaders on daily operations, staffing needs, productivity, quality, and department priorities.
• Provide leadership and support to the Coder Auditor/Trainer team as they deliver education, audits, onboarding, and staff development.
• Help teams succeed through onboarding, training, cross-training, competency development, remediation plans, and career growth opportunities.
• Lead hiring, performance management, succession planning, workforce planning, and employee development.
• Help staff and leaders navigate change with clear communication and a practical, supportive approach.
