Job summary

UC San Diego Health is seeking an experienced Enterprise Bed Flow Nurse to join our 24/7 Mission Control. This role coordinates bed placement, optimizes patient throughput, and supports seamless care transitions across UCSDH locations.

The position requires nursing excellence, strong communication, and the ability to manage complex workflows in a fast-paced hospital environment. Coverage includes multiple sites with emphasis on safe patient movement and efficient care delivery.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Nursing required.
• RN license issued by California required.
• Current UCSD BART certification, or BLS with commitment to obtain BART within six months.
• House Supervisor experience OR Inpatient System Flow experience.
• 4+ years of inpatient RN experience.
• Strong communication across organizational levels and in dynamic environments.
• Ability to manage complex workflow and multiple priorities.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate patient placement across UCSDH locations.
• Oversee bed tracking dashboards and bed huddles.
• Assess patient acuity with Unit Charge Nurses for EDIP and Post-Operative patients.
• Lead daily bed meetings for coordinated patient placement.
• Monitor discharge delays and address barriers to throughput.
• Coordinate interfacility transfer requests for timely placement.
• Serve as central communication hub among providers, nursing, transport, and leadership.
• Support EMTALA compliance and transfer documentation.
