Ally and Your Career

Ally Financial only succeeds when its people do - and that’s more than some cliché people put on job postings. We love this stuff! We see our people as, well, people - with interests, families, friends, dreams, and causes that are all important to them. Our focus is on the health and safety of our teammates as well as work-life balance and diversity and inclusion. From generous benefits to a variety of employee resource groups, we strive to build paths that encourage employees to stretch themselves professionally. We want to help you grow, develop, and learn new things. You’re constantly evolving, so shouldn’t your opportunities be, too?

Work Schedule

Ally designates roles as (1) fully on-site, (2) hybrid, or (3) fully remote. Hybrid roles are generally expected to be in the office a certain number of days per week as indicated by your manager. Your hiring manager will discuss this role's specific work requirements with you during the hiring process. All work requirements are subject to change at any time based on leader discretion and/or business need.

The Opportunity

This role leads the execution and continuous improvement of Enterprise Architecture (EA) Governance across Ally. The position is accountable for operating consistent governance workflows and producing accurate, decision-ready enterprise technology data (including application and technology catalogs) that enables standards adherence, risk transparency, and investment decisions.

The role partners with Enterprise Architecture, Risk, Security, Technology, and Business stakeholders to ensure governance controls are executed, data quality standards are met, and evidence is maintained to support audit readiness and effective enterprise decision-making. This position exercises independent judgment within established policy, escalates issues and exceptions as needed, and drives closure of gaps through influence rather than authority.

The Work Itself
EA Governance Process Support
  • Lead day-to-day EA governance processes, including architecture intake, assessment workflows, and end-to-end review coordination across stakeholders.
  • Perform quality assurance on governance submissions to ensure completeness, accuracy, and alignment to established EA standards, policies, and control requirements.
  • Drive resolution of data gaps and risk/control issues by coordinating with architects, product teams, and delivery leads; document impacts and recommended paths forward for timely decisioning.
  • Own and maintain EA governance documentation, templates, and operating procedures; ensure they remain current, usable, and audit-ready.
  • Track governance outcomes, decisions, and exceptions; validate that approvals and compensating controls are documented and that required evidence is retained per policy.
  • Identify and implement process improvements (automation, standardization, cycle-time reduction) while preserving control integrity; quantify benefits and communicate changes to stakeholders.
Application Portfolio / Catalog Management
  • Serve as operational lead for the enterprise application catalog within ServiceNow, including intake, maintenance, and data quality controls.
  • Maintain application records and required attributes (ownership, lifecycle state, criticality, resiliency, and integration details) to support governance and reporting needs.
  • Partner with application owners and architects to remediate data quality issues; establish routines and accountability to improve completeness and accuracy at scale.
  • Support alignment to enterprise data standards (including CSDM and application taxonomy requirements); interpret requirements and translate them into practical catalog guidance.
  • Produce application portfolio insights to support governance reviews, audit/risk requests, and portfolio optimization; explain findings and data limitations to leaders when needed.
  • Design and enforce data hygiene controls to prevent duplicate, incomplete, or stale records; define exception handling and drive closure with record owners.
Technology Catalog / Standards Support
  • Support governance and ongoing maintenance of the enterprise Technology Reference Model (TRM) and technology catalog, including standards intake and lifecycle controls.
  • Maintain technology records and lifecycle status in ServiceNow; validate alignment to approved standards and manage updates through defined governance workflows.
  • Coordinate evaluation of new technologies in partnership with Architecture, risk, and Security; ensure decision criteria, approvals, and evidence are documented.
  • Develop and deliver reporting on technology lifecycle, standards adherence, and risk exposure; highlight trends, outliers, and remediation priorities.
  • Ensure alignment between technology standards, TRM decisions, and downstream governance processes; recommend updates when gaps or conflicts are identified.
Minimum Qualifications
  • 7+ years of relevant experience
  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information System, or equivalent
The Qualifications We're Looking For
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
  • 4+ years of experience in enterprise technology, architecture governance, IT portfolio management, or related areas.
  • Hands-on experience with ServiceNow, preferably APM, Technology Portfolio, CMDB/CSDM-aligned data, and governance workflows.
  • Working knowledge of enterprise architecture governance concepts, standards, and review/decision forums.
  • Experience operating within control-based, risk-managed, and/or audit-supported processes, including evidence management and issue remediation.
  • Strong planning and organizational skills with attention to detail, the ability to manage multiple workstreams, and reliable follow-through.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills; able to influence outcomes across technical and non-technical audiences without direct authority.
  • Experience in financial services or other regulated industries.
  • Familiarity with CSDM (v4/v5) and enterprise application and/or technology lifecycle management practices.
  • Experience supporting architecture review boards, governance councils, or similar decision forums.
  • Experience producing metrics, dashboards, and executive-ready summaries; able to translate data into clear recommendations and actions
