The Illinois Secretary of State, Office of Information Systems, is seeking an Information Systems Advisor I – Enterprise Applications in Springfield to perform advanced systems analysis and programming in COBOL and to lead cross-functional initiatives. Requires two years of college in computer science with four years of related experience, strong communication skills, and the ability to travel.

Qualifications

• Requires completion of two years of college in a computer science field and four years of related experience.
• Extensive COBOL, systems analysis, and documentation skills are required.
• Strong communication, security, ethics awareness and ability to travel as needed.
• Must possess a valid Illinois driver’s license and be able to lift/push up to 50 lbs.

Responsibilities

• Perform senior level systems analysis and programming using COBOL; design complex data processing systems.
• Develop scope and business requirements with user departments; interface with agencies as needed.
• Prepare documentation on system requirements, costs and impacts for decision committees.
• Assist supervisor with workload planning, performance evaluations, and time-off approvals.
• Design or conduct training programs for users of departmental systems.
• Monitor project status and provide periodic status reports to stakeholders.
• Perform other duties as required.
