Job summary

Office of the Illinois Secretary of State in Springfield seeks an Information Systems Advisor I to manage the State’s IBM mainframe virtualization infrastructure. You will install, configure, monitor, and administer IBM z/VM environments to ensure stability, performance, and security for statewide applications.

You will apply maintenance, security policies, and DR procedures while collaborating with DoIT teams and vendors.

Qualifications

• Requires two years of college in computer science and four years of experience with technical systems and/or programming IT projects.
• Strong knowledge of IBM z/VM administration, z/VM environments, and zLinux virtualization.
• Experience with security, privacy, and compliance frameworks within state government.

Responsibilities

• Install, configure, and maintain IBM z/VM environments and resources.
• Manage z/VM spool, minidisks, and user access with strict security controls.
• Participate in DR testing, recovery procedures, and high-availability planning.
