Job summary

UPMC in Pittsburgh's ENT practice seeks a full-time Medical Assistant to provide clinical and administrative support. You will room patients, take vital signs, collect histories, assist providers, maintain exam rooms, and document in the EMR.

This position requires a high school diploma or equivalent, basic computer skills, and knowledge of medical terminology. Licenses such as BLS/CPR and Act 34 are preferred. Training will be based on the Medical Assistant Career Ladder.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Basic computer skills and knowledge of medical terminology essential.
• Experience with rooming patients and basic clinical tasks preferred.
• Ability to obtain vital signs and medical histories.
• Strong organization and communication skills.
• Willingness to follow HIPAA and safety policies.

Responsibilities

• Send/receive patient medical records in compliance with HIPAA and regulations.
• Obtain lab/x-ray reports, hospital notes, and referrals; schedule appointments; verify insurance; manage charts.
• Prepare and clean exam rooms; maintain infection control; restock supplies.
• Assist patients with walking/transfers, gather history, take vitals, and relay instructions.
• Answer calls and provide patient education as directed.
• Perform phlebotomy, basic EKGs, and level one labs; assist physicians with procedures.
