Job summary

Allegheny Health Network is seeking a Medical Assistant to support clinical teams under provider supervision. You will room patients, record vitals and history, assist with exams and procedures, and help with EHR documentation and office workflow.

Qualifications include High School / GED or completion of a Medical Assistant program, mandatory certification within defined timelines, CPR certification, and background clearances. Preferred Associate's Degree and ability to travel between locations.

Qualifications

• High School / GED or Completion of a Medical Assistant Program
• Certification requirements: employees who have either completed a medical assistant program within five years or have one year of MA work experience must complete certification testing within 30 days of hire and obtain certification within 120 days
• Accepted Medical Assistant Certification (NHA, AAMA, AMT, NCCT, AMCA)
• Preferred: Associate's Degree
• Additional Employment Requirements: CPR – American Heart Association; Act 34/33/73 background clearances; FBI fingerprinting

Responsibilities

• Assists in coordinating patient care under supervision of the health care provider.
• Prepares and rooms patients; obtains vital signs; documents patient information and history; screens medications and tobacco use; may assist with depression screening tools; reviews medication lists in the EHR; updates social history.
• Performs back office testing and assists providers with examinations and procedures.
• May serve as a scribe with training; provides patient follow-up per provider instructions; notifies patients of test results.
• Maintains exam rooms and inventory; cleans and sterilizes instruments; conducts lab controls and equipment checks; documents in the EHR; performs clerical duties; may float between locations.
