Job summary

George Mason University’s Schar School of Policy and Government seeks an Associate Director of Recruitment and Admissions to lead undergraduate and graduate recruitment, admissions, and yield efforts across programs. The role balances day‑to‑day leadership of the admissions team with direct engagement of prospective students through a managed portfolio.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Substantive progressively responsible experience in higher education recruitment, admissions, enrollment management, or a related field (typically five or more years).
• Significant working knowledge of enrollment management technologies and CRM platforms.
• Advanced written and verbal communication skills with the ability to engage prospective students, faculty, staff, and external partners.
• Ability to supervise, coach, and develop professional and student staff while effectively managing competing priorities.
• Ability to identify operational challenges, evaluate alternatives, and implement process improvements that enhance recruitment, admissions, and enrollment outcomes.

Responsibilities

• Lead undergraduate recruitment and yield, as well as graduate student recruitment initiatives, aligned with enrollment goals.
• Engage prospective students through lead generation, events, travel, and top‑of‑funnel activities.
• Oversee admissions operations for master's, doctoral, graduate certificates, and non‑degree programs.
• Monitor enrollment performance and manage the enrollment budget and workflow efficiency.
• Collaborate with faculty, programs, and university partners to align communications with enrollment priorities.
• Represent the School on university committees and oversee admissions workflows and applicant communications.
