Job summary

George Mason University is seeking a Dean of Admissions to serve as the chief strategic and operational leader for undergraduate and graduate admissions. You will recruit, evaluate, and enroll a diverse student body in line with GMU’s access and excellence mission.

The role reports to the Senior Vice President for Enrollment and Student Achievement and leads a team of recruiters, reviewers, and operations staff, leveraging Patriot Connect and analytics to inform strategy and improve outcomes.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree or equivalent in a related field.
• Generally, a minimum of 10 years leading and developing teams.
• Experience building and executing a student enrollment strategy.
• Proven track record meeting enrollment targets for first-year, transfer and graduate students.
• Graduate-level experience and transfer/community college pathway experience.
• Experience at a large public research university.
• Expertise with admissions CRM platforms, data analytics, and admissions funnel management.
• Ability to communicate persuasively with students, families, colleagues, and senior leadership.
• Must hold a valid motor vehicle operator’s license per GMU policy.

Responsibilities

• Provide visionary leadership for undergraduate and graduate admissions in alignment with the University's enrollment goals.
• Develop and execute a comprehensive recruitment and yield strategy for first-year, transfer, and graduate students.
• Lead admissions policy, application review standards, and decision processes that are fair and defensible.
• Oversee application processing, communications automation, and the applicant experience, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
• Partner with leadership to align recruitment with program priorities and capacity.
• Represent George Mason Admissions to prospective students, families, schools, and the public.
