Job summary

The Enrichment Leader at YMCA of San Diego County supervises a group of students ages 5-12 daily, helping with homework and enrichment activities while ensuring safety and serving as a positive role model.

This on-site role involves planning and implementing activities across arts, science, sports, and crafts, guiding distance learning and collaborating with families and staff to create an engaging learning environment.

Qualifications

• Must be 18 years of age or older and possess a high school diploma/GED.
• Interest in working with groups of children ages 5-12 from diverse backgrounds.
• Ability to lead students in multiple activity areas (recreational games, crafts, drama, science, sports).
• Completion of Child Abuse Prevention training prior to working with participants.
• CPR/AED and First Aid Certification within 30 days of hire from a recognized organization.

Responsibilities

• Contribute to planning and implementation of the daily program in accordance with YMCA policies.
• Plan and implement lesson plans for arts & crafts, cooking, science, engineering, sports, drama and others.
• Support and guide students with attending online distance learning and homework completion.
• Create an age-appropriate learning environment that fosters creativity and individuality.
• Actively supervise participants ensuring safety at all times.
• Maintain positive relationships with staff, students, and families.
• Adhere to schedule and be prepared for activities at each shift.
• Serve as role model to students and participate in staff meetings.

Enrichment Leader

The Enrichment Leader, under the supervision of the Enrichment Supervisor: supervises and supports a group of students ages 5-12 daily with completing homework, plans and implements enrichment activities; ensures the safety and well-being of students, and serves as a positive role model.

Schedule:

AM Shift in Clairmont: Monday through Friday, 6:30am - 8:30am

PM Shift in Tierrasanta: Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday & Friday, 2:10pm - 6pm

Friday, 11:40am - 6pm

Responsibilities

• Contribute to planning and implementation of the daily program in accordance with YMCA policies
• Plan and implement lesson plans for activities in the areas of arts & crafts, cooking, science, engineering, sports, drama and others
• Support and guide students with attending online distance learning and homework completion
• Create an age-appropriate learning environment, which allows for and fosters creativity and individuality in the participants
• Actively supervise program participants, ensuring their guidance and safety at all times
• Maintain a positive and responsive relationship with staff, students and families
• Recognize and respond to needs of individual students
• Adhere to work schedule and be prepared for activities at the beginning of each shift
• Serve as role model to all students
• Actively contribute and participate in staff meetings or activities
• Provide positive behavior guidance that supports developmental, social-emotional and physical needs of all students
• Adheres to YMCA dress code and Code of Conduct and Mission Statement
• Perform daily duties that ensure space is properly maintained, organized, clean, and safe
• Ability to be flexible with change within a daily schedule
• Visual and auditory ability to respond to critical incidents and the physical ability to act in an emergency situation
• Physical ability to lead sports, games and curriculum activities, monitor youth behavior, and perform general housekeeping responsibilities
• Other duties as assigned needs to be included to all roles

Qualifications

• Must be 18 years of age or older and possess a high school diploma/GED
• Sincere interest in and ability to work with groups of children ages 5-12 years of diverse ethnic populations
• Skill set to lead students in at least two of the following areas: recreational games, Crafts, drama, songs, science, art, team building or sports
• Completion of Child Abuse Prevention training prior to working with program participants
• CPR/AED, and First Aid Certification, must include Adult and Child/Infant, obtained within 30 days of hire and must be from one of the following certifying organizations:
  • American Red Cross
  • American Heart Association
  • American Safety & Health Institute

Pay Range

USD $18.00 - USD $19.50 /Hr.
