Job summary

arc is seeking a Specialized Instructor to develop enrichment curricula and lead hands-on activities after school. The role supports student learning, safety, and program quality at school sites, with part-time, non-exempt hours. Candidates should be prepared for school-hour shifts and campus recruitment efforts.

The position requires experience with diverse youth, a CAPE/college units background, and CPR certification, along with background-clearance procedures for LAUSD-related placements.

Qualifications

• Availability to work school hours, including early dismissal days and weekends.
• Experience delivering specialized curriculum to students.
• Experience in school settings or after-school programs.
• Experience with ethnically and culturally diverse communities.
• 48+ college units completed or CAPE exam.
• TB test clearance and Live Scan background check.
• LAUSD SSO and Risk Management Training if placed with LAUSD.
• Bilingual Spanish preferred.
• Current CPR certification (adult, child, infant).
• Higher levels require additional certifications and teacher credentials on file with HR.

Responsibilities

• Develop and facilitate a full syllabus and lesson plans for enrichment activities.
• Manage student sign in/out, incident reports, and compliance with requirements.
• Instruct the scheduled enrichment block and maintain required student-instructor ratios.
• Market and advertise the program on campus: flyers, recruitment, showcases.
• Do not sell private services or communicate privately with students.
• Demonstrate leadership and empower youth to reach their potential.
• Use safety protocols and clearly define safety expectations.
• Maintain classroom management, set expectations, rewards, discipline, and incentives.
• Be energetic, creative, and engage students in an age-appropriate manner.
• Participate in training and professional development meetings.
• Communicate effectively in writing and verbally for program operations.
• Use critical thinking to make decisions aligned with best practices for youth programs.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
