CLASSIFICATION PURPOSE

This non-exempt position is responsible for performing a variety of unskilled and semi-skilled landscape construction tasks including digging, carrying materials, irrigation, drainage, landscape, and equipment operation; perform related work as required.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

1. Uses hand and/or power tools or equipment to perform a wide range of landscape and irrigation duties;
2. Sets sod, sprinkler heads, non-sewage catch basins, and tree stakes;
3. Moves soil, equipment, and materials, digs holes, and plants trees, shrubs, and flowers;
4. Waters vegetation using a hose;
5. Clears and backfills ditches and trenches for irrigation and drains;
6. Digs and backfills holes for plants, trees, and shrubs;
7. Performs handwork as necessary using a pick, shovel, rake, wheelbarrow, broom, or other hand tools;
8. Installs sprinklers;
9. Cleans drains and tree wells;
10. Operates powered equipment (e.g., skid steer, loader, auger, jack hammer, stake pounder);
11. Performs rough grading using a rake;
12. Carries materials (e.g., sod, rocks, and plants);
13. Maintains tools and equipment to ensure safety;
14. Actively participates in safety meetings;
15. Role models PPE usage;
16. Performs general clean-up at the work site;
17. Performs final grading;
18. Completes basic landscape maintenance activities;
19. Completes tasks according to production rates;
20. Performs elevation tasks correctly;
21. Connects irrigation and drainage pipe using glue;
22. Takes direction from the Crew Leader and follows instructions;
23. Communicates effectively with the Crew Leader and co-workers;
24. Works efficiently to complete assigned tasks without supervision;
25. Immediately reports unsafe conditions or faulty equipment to the Crew Leader;
26. Complies with all company policies and safety procedures;
27. Works effectively in a group;
28. Uses hand equipment with mechanized moving blades such as gas-powered shears;
29. Works from elevated heights such as an 8’ A-frame ladder;
30. Performs Winter Service (e.g., snow clearing, snow plowing, shoveling, salting) as needed;
31. Provides excellent service (e.g., accurate, complete, and timely) to clients, work-site partners, and Company staff in a courteous and efficient manner.
