CLASSIFICATION PURPOSE

This non-exempt position is responsible for performing a variety of unskilled and semi-skilled landscape tasks including horticulture, grounds maintenance, and equipment operation; perform related work as required.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

1. Performs grounds maintenance functions (e.g., pulling weeds, raking leaves, sweeping sidewalks, and cleaning debris);
2. Clears ditches, digs holes, and performs handwork as necessary using a pick, shovel, or other hand tools (e.g., shovel, rake, broom, clippers);
3. Waters vegetation using a hose;
4. Cleans canals, drains, and tree wells;
5. Operates light landscape equipment (e.g., 21”, 36”, 52”, 60”, and 72” riding mowers, leaf blower, string trimmer, stick edger, edger, pruning shears, hedge trimmer);
6. Maintains tools and equipment to ensure safety;
7. Actively participates in safety meetings;
8. Role models PPE usage;
9. Plants vegetation as instructed;
10. Uses assigned tools and equipment safely;
11. Assists in keeping the job site safe for the public and company employees;
12. Actively contributes to achieving performance goals (e.g., job quality, safety, customer service);
13. Complies with all company policies and safety procedures;
14. Works effectively in a group;
15. Takes direction from the Crew Leader and follows instructions;
16. Communicates effectively with the Crew Leader and co-workers;
17. Maintains lawns and planter beds as directed by the Crew Leader;
18. Works efficiently to complete assigned tasks without supervision;
19. Immediately reports unsafe conditions or faulty equipment to the Crew Leader;
20. Demonstrates proper horticultural practices;
21. Capable of visually identifying at least 10 plants by name;
22. Performs various types of pruning (e.g., hard pruning, natural pruning, formal pruning);
23. Performs Winter Service (e.g., snow clearing, winter watering, installations, pruning) as needed;
24. Provides excellent service (e.g., accurate, complete, and timely) to clients, work-site partners, and Company staff in a courteous and efficient manner.
