BASIS DC is seeking qualified candidates for a High School English Teacher position for the 2025/26 school year. The role involves ensuring exceptional education by preparing and facilitating subject-specific lesson plans, implementing the BASIS Curriculum, and tailoring topics to the teacher's expertise and passion for the subject.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant subject or 24+ credit hours in applicable subject matter with another degree
• Valid fingerprint clearance and/or satisfactory state background check
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite

Preferred Qualifications

• Master’s degree in subject matter or education
• 2+ years of teaching or education experience

Essential Functions

• Prepare and facilitate subject and grade-specific lessons
• Provide instruction that exceeds grade standards in an interactive environment
• Design effective lessons and assessments to ensure competitive education
• Collaborate with other BASIS teachers to develop curriculum and foster a professional community
• Tutor students to enhance academic and career success
• Manage student behavior to promote achievement and respect
• Support non-instructional functions like “Early Bird,” “Late Bird,” and lunch supervision
• Maintain regular attendance
• Supervise students individually or in groups
