Kenilworth Public Schools seeks an English/Language Arts Teacher for a leave replacement at David Brearley High School. Anticipated dates are November 2, 2026 through June 22, 2027, with an anticipated leave replacement assignment for the 2026-2027 school year.

  • Ability to plan and deliver rigorous, standards-aligned instruction that develops reading comprehension, literary analysis, writing, critical thinking, research, and communication.
  • Ability to use assessment data, student work, and instructional evidence to monitor progress and differentiate for diverse learners at the high school level.
  • Strong communication, organization, problem-solving, interpersonal, and collaboration skills with students, families, colleagues, counselors, and admins.
  • Must pass criminal history background check and prove U.S. citizenship or legal resident status.
  • Must meet NJ Residency requirements per NJ First Act.

The employee is not eligible for a comprehensive benefits package, including medical, dental, and vision insurance, paid sick and personal leave accruals (pursuant to the collective bargaining agreement), and enrollment in the New Jersey Teachers' Pension and Annuity Fund (TPAF) or the Public Employees' Retirement System.

Long-term sub less than 6 months

The employee is not eligible for a comprehensive benefits package, including medical, dental, and vision insurance, paid sick and personal leave accruals (pursuant to the collective bargaining agreement), and enrollment in the New Jersey Teachers' Pension and Annuity Fund (TPAF) or the Public Employees' Retirement System.

Long-term sub 6 months or longer

The employee is not eligible for a comprehensive benefits package, including medical, dental, and vision insurance, paid sick and personal leave accruals (pursuant to the collective bargaining agreement), and enrollment in the New Jersey Teachers' Pension and Annuity Fund (TPAF) or the Public Employees' Retirement System.

Long-term, full school year assignment

The employee is not eligible for a comprehensive benefits package, including medical, dental, and vision insurance, paid sick and personal leave accruals (pursuant to the collective bargaining agreement), and enrollment in the New Jersey Teachers' Pension and Annuity Fund (TPAF) or the Public Employees' Retirement System.

Step 1

Benefits the first of the month after 30 days of service.

The position is not eligible for additional compensation in the form of stipends for extracurricular activities, coaching, or tuition reimbursement based on district policy.

In accordance with N.J.S.A. 18A:16-1:1, time accrued in a leave replacement position does not count towards tenure.
