Job summary

Kenilworth Public Schools seeks an English/Language Arts Teacher for a leave replacement at David Brearley High School. Anticipated dates are November 2, 2026 through June 22, 2027, with an anticipated leave replacement assignment for the 2026-2027 school year.

Qualified candidates hold a valid NJDOE ELA certificate for Grades 6–12 and have proven high school ELA teaching experience, along with strong classroom management and differentiation skills.

Qualifications

• Valid NJDOE Instructional Certificate with an English/Language Arts endorsement for Grades 6–12.
• Demonstrated successful teaching experience in high school English Language Arts; experience teaching multiple secondary grade levels preferred.
• Strong knowledge of effective secondary ELA instructional practices, curriculum design, assessment, differentiation, student supports, and classroom management.
• Knowledge of New Jersey Student Learning Standards for ELA and evidence-based practices in literature, informational text, writing, speaking, listening, grammar, and vocabulary.
• Ability to plan and deliver rigorous, standards-aligned instruction that develops reading comprehension, literary analysis, writing, critical thinking, research, and communication.
• Ability to use assessment data, student work, and instructional evidence to monitor progress and differentiate for diverse learners at the high school level.
• Strong communication, organization, problem-solving, interpersonal, and collaboration skills with students, families, colleagues, counselors, and admins.
• Must pass criminal history background check and prove U.S. citizenship or legal resident status.
• Must meet NJ Residency requirements per NJ First Act.
