Job summary

Washoe County School District seeks an Intervention and Recovery English Teacher for Mendive Middle School. This full-time role involves delivering English instruction, planning lessons aligned with standards, and supporting diverse learners within a structured school environment.

The position requires a Bachelor's degree with student teaching and Nevada licensure eligibility, plus strong classroom management and collaboration with staff. Salaries follow WCSD scales and benefit packages apply.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university with student teaching experience.
• Three (3) years of verified contracted teaching experience with a Bachelor's Degree and the ability to obtain a valid teaching license in Nevada.
• Knowledge of child development; behavior and characteristics of students; subject area and/or credential area of teaching.

Responsibilities

• Planning and Preparation: masters in content and pedagogy; set instructional outcomes for diverse learners; design coherent instruction; create a respectful learning environment; organize space; manage procedures and behavior; establish a culture for learning; demonstrate cultural competency.
• Instruction: communicate learning expectations; engage students; use questioning and discussion; embed assessments; show flexibility; apply MTSS knowledge.
• Professional Responsibilities: maintain records; reflect on teaching; support family/community partnerships; participate in professional community; demonstrate professionalism and ethics.
