Instructors (Non-Contract/Temporary) provide classroom instruction and guidance to diverse students, with appointments up to 67% of a full-time load. Applications stay on file for potential vacancies during the academic year.

Qualifications

• Master's in English, literature, comparative literature, or composition.
• Bachelor's in any of the above and Master's in linguistics, TESL, speech, education with a specialization in reading, creative writing or journalism.
• Or the equivalent*; Or possession of a valid California Community College Teaching Credential appropriate to the discipline.

Responsibilities

• Provide academic instruction to students through lecture, lab, or performance courses; assess and develop cognitive abilities, communication skills, and higher order thinking.
• Advise and instruct students regarding programs of study and lifelong learning resources; refer to support services as appropriate.
• Observe and evaluate student performance to meet course objectives and learning outcomes; provide timely feedback.
• Plan and organize instruction according to approved course outlines and outcomes to maximize learning.
• Maintain accurate records of enrollment and progress; prepare data and reports related to student progress.

Education
