Job summary

Western Nevada College in Carson City is seeking an Academic Faculty member in English on a 171-day, benefits-eligible, non-tenure track basis. The position may involve teaching on campus or at remote sites and online formats, with a start in Fall 2027. The role requires a Master’s degree (Ph.D.

preferred), experience teaching college level courses, and distance education proficiency. Duties include advising, program assessment, and service on college committees.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree from a regionally accredited college or university in English or closely related field.
• Experience in teaching college level courses.
• Experience teaching with distance education/online teaching modalities.
• Ph.D. from a regionally accredited university (preferred).
• Experience with diverse populations (preferred).
• Experience with literacy education (preferred).
• Experience with writing and coaching at a writing center (preferred).
• Experience with program assessment; thorough understanding of the purpose and function of a community college (preferred).
• Fluency in Spanish (preferred).

Responsibilities

• Teach a minimum of 30 credits a year.
• Teach both day and evening transfer-level and developmental English classes.
• Develop traditional and alternative methodologies and teach using traditional and alternative methodologies (interactive video, web-based, etc.).
• Participate in student advisement.
• Participate in program review and academic program assessment.
• Serve on college and system committees as required.
• Participate in college and community service activities.
• Perform all responsibilities set forth in Board of Regents Handbook, Title 2, Chapter 4, Section 4.4.2.
• Perform other duties as assigned
