Job summary

Vanguard College Prep is seeking a full-time English educator to help students build core literacy and college readiness. You will teach small groups, track growth, and model professionalism with strong organizational skills.

The role offers base pay $20.00–$24.00 per hour, health insurance, PTO, and paid winter vacations. Ideal candidates hold a humanities degree, teaching experience, and a passion for mentoring students through the college application process.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or higher in humanities (English, Creative Writing, Journalism, Publishing, etc.).
• Teaching experience in English and/or college-level Writing Center (1+ years).
• Demonstrated academic excellence (3.5+ GPA).
• Proficiency in MS Excel, MS Word, MS PowerPoint, and G-Suites.

Responsibilities

• Teach and Inspire: Instruct small groups of students in their English core skills to promote long-term understanding of topics and top scores in their college readiness exams (ACT & SAT).
• Track Growth: Track your students' progress as they move through Vanguard's unique multi-phase curriculum, engaging students in individualized growth and improvement opportunities along the way.
• Manage and Model: Maintain and update student lesson schedules, hold them accountable for assignments, and model professionalism along with strong organizational skills through timely student communication.
• Innovate: Spearhead the development and creative execution of ever-evolving lesson plans and curriculum.
• Mentor: Guide middle and high school students with empathy and an innate understanding that the college application process is becoming increasingly competitive and stressful.
