Job summary

Kansas Department of Transportation (KDOT) in Topeka, KS seeks an Engineering Technician Specialist to support statewide ITS maintenance, review construction plans, and inspect preventive maintenance of ITS devices. You will coordinate with ITS engineers and contractors and assist in field inspections to ensure standards are met.

Valid driver’s license and MicroStation proficiency are required; transcripts are required for education to be considered.

Qualifications

Five years of experience in engineering technical support.
Transcripts are required for education to be considered.
Proficient with Bluebeam, Outlook, Access, Excel and Word; familiar with Micro Station.

Responsibilities

Assists state ITS Engineer with management of ITS device maintenance for signs, cameras, speed detectors, and other devices.
Coordinate with ITS device maintenance contractor and review contractor spreadsheets for accuracy.
Maintain knowledge of ATMS software used to control ITS devices and assist IT staff with network issues.
Represent ITS maintenance needs in selection and scoping of future ITS construction projects.
Periodic field inspection of preventive maintenance and on-call maintenance work orders to confirm ITS standards.
