Job summary

Google, DeepMind in Cambridge, MA, seeks an Engineering Technician to build and prototype robotic systems in lab settings and validate them in real-world scenarios. You will join a multi-disciplinary team focused on advancing robotics and ensuring safe, ethical AI development for billions of users.

Your role includes electromechanical prototyping, cable harness work, and rigorous testing, with English proficiency required for collaboration across global teams.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience in EE/physics or related field.
  • Experience with cable harness assembly and cable drawing packages.
  • Experience with lab instrumentation (DMM, oscilloscope, LCR meters, programmable loads).
  • Soldering experience including fine pitch and BGA/LGA rework.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with electromechanical prototype builds including kitting, assembly, and testing.
  • Rework PCBs in a variety of different applications.
  • Inspect incoming parts and coordinate with external fab houses and contract manufacturers; cable harness assembly for R&D prototyping and low quantity builds.
  • Track inventory of parts, subassemblies, and final assemblies across multiple sites.
  • Execute Detailed Design Verification Test (DVT) of PCBAs following existing test documentation.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Physics, a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Experience with cable harness assembly and generation of cable drawing packages.
  • Experience with common lab instrumentation (DMM, oscilloscope, LCR meter, programmable load/power supplies).
  • Experience with soldering such as but not limited to (fine pitch, Ball Grid Array/Land Grid Array(BGA/LGA)) with soldering irons, tweezers, hot air rework pencils, preheaters, and reflow ovens.
Preferred qualifications
  • Ability to work cross-functionally and in a team environment.

US: $108,000 - $153,000 (USD) + 15% bonus target + equity + benefits
