Job summary

NORFOLK NAVAL SHIPYARD invites applications for an Engineering Technician (Job Planning Leader) in the Quality Control Branch. You will lead engineering support for shipyard availability projects and act as a liaison between waterfront execution and the Engineering and Planning Department to ensure product quality.

The role requires coordinating funding, conducting ship checks, and guiding junior staff. You must be prepared for a pre‑employment process and travel as needed, with rotating shift

Qualifications

• Experience leading engineering support for shipyard availability projects.
• Ability to discuss technical matters with management and multiple engineering disciplines.
• Familiarity with shipyard processes and basic engineering concepts.
• Experience solving complex problems and guiding engineers using project management skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead the job planning engineering support for assigned shipyard availability projects.
• Liaise between waterfront execution and Engineering and Planning Department codes on product quality.
• Ensure funding issues are resolved to permit scheduled work without delay.
• Conduct troubleshooting ship checks for shipboard situations as they arise.
• Develop and maintain a changes database reflecting all pertinent information from change documents.
• Provide guidance and leadership to lower graded personnel on the project team.
