Job summary

The State of North Carolina is seeking an Engineering Technician III for the Division 6 Cumberland Maintenance Unit. This advanced level role inspects driveways, encroachments, subdivisions, and roadworks, coordinating with contractors and field crews to ensure compliance with department standards.

The ideal candidate will hold an Associate degree in engineering technology or related field with three years of relevant experience, plus proficiency in drafting and office software and the ability

Qualifications

  • Associate’s degree in an applicable area of Engineering Technology, Survey Technology or a related curriculum and three (3) years of progressive technician level experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Three (3) years of progressive technician level experience.
  • Knowledge and ability to use drafting and office software to support inspections and plans.

Responsibilities

  • Reviewing and inspecting driveway permits, encroachments, subdivisions, and roadway additions/abandonments.
  • Monitoring and inspecting contractors performing department work.
  • Assisting with snow and ice plans and execution; maintaining guardrail and traffic barrier systems.
