Job summary

ASRC Federal is seeking a Mechanical Technician to support the ASTROS Contract as an Engineering Technician III. You will contribute to maintenance, equipment prep, and laboratory infrastructure support for cutting-edge propulsion systems research with AFRL.

Qualified candidates will have 5+ years in maintenance or mechanical assembly, the ability to read drawings, operate basic shop tools, and be able to obtain a DoD Secret Clearance. Availability for overtime and shift flexibility is required.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of practical experience in general maintenance, mechanical assembly, or facility operations.
• Ability to read and interpret basic drawings, schematics, or layout prints.
• Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds and work in extreme temperatures.
• Must be able to obtain a DoD Secret Clearance.
• Willingness to work overtime or different shifts.

Responsibilities

• Basic knowledge of facility components, mechanical assembly, and layout prep.
• Supports maintenance, repair, and modifications of laboratory infrastructure and equipment.
• Assists with room layout preparation, removing legacy hardware, and coordinating basic mechanical setups.
• Receives daily instructions, provides feedback, and completes work with minimal supervision.
• Must plan safety into every aspect of the work.
• Prioritizes tasks effectively in a dynamic, changing environment.
• Wears assigned PPE at all times.
• Must be licensed and able to drive a vehicle.
