Job summary

North Carolina Department of Transportation is seeking an Engineering Technician II (S) in Randolph County Maintenance to assist in inspecting roadway assets, sampling materials, and supporting highway maintenance programs. Qualifications

• Associate degree in Engineering Technology, Survey Technology or related field; two years of technician experience.
• Equivalent combination of education and experience may qualify.
• Knowledge of highway/utility construction concepts and standards.

Responsibilities

• Assist in inspection of roadway assets and inventories.
• Assist in RMIP/HMIP inspections and erosion/sediment control site management.
• Perform sampling, testing, and inspection duties to verify codes/standards.
• Conduct weekly guardrail damage assessment and NPDES inspections.
• Read and interpret construction plans and assess compliance.
