Job summary

The State of North Carolina Department of Transportation is seeking an Engineering Technician II (S) in Guilford County, Jamestown Resident Engineer’s Office, to support construction inspection, surveying, and material testing under supervision of engineers.

The role requires record keeping, the ability to perform calculations, and obtaining various certifications; willingness to work nights or weekends may be necessary; full-time employment with benefits.

Qualifications

• Associate’s degree in Engineering Technology, Survey Technology or related field.
• Two (2) years of progressive technician level experience or equivalent.
• Ability to obtain required certifications (e.g., QA/QC, material sampling).

Responsibilities

• Support construction inspection, surveying, material sampling and testing.
• Perform field data calculations, diaries, and report writing.
• Maintain accurate records and prepare material reports.
• Coordinate with engineers, contractors, and the public.
• Possibly supervise lower-level technicians and CEI personnel.
