Job summary

The North Carolina Department of Transportation is seeking an Engineering Technician II for the Winston-Salem 1 Construction Office. This role supports engineers in highway construction contracts, monitors contractors, reviews test reports, and handles contract administration tasks to ensure work meets plans and specifications.

Qualifications

Associate degree in Engineering Technology or Survey Technology and two years of progressive technician experience.
Experience evaluating plans, standards and specifications and monitoring construction projects.

Responsibilities

Monitor contractor operations and review test reports for conformance with plans and specs.
Perform contract administration tasks such as pay records, material reports, payroll review, diary review and quantity verification.
Assist with utility relocation inspections and tracking, coordinate with contractors and stakeholders.
Direct and schedule junior technicians for staking out and inspecting construction phases.
