Job summary

NCDOT in Winston-Salem is seeking an Engineering Technician I (S) to assist engineers and higher-level technicians in administering roadway and structure construction projects awarded to private contractors.

You will inspect every phase of a project to ensure it is built to plans and specifications, perform routine calculations and data entry on computers and iPads, and communicate clearly with engineers, contractors and the public.

Qualifications

• Associate degree in Civil Engineering Technology or related field.
• Ability to work nights and weekends as required.
• Experience or familiarity with roadway construction projects is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist engineers and senior technicians in administering roadway/structure projects.
• Inspect all phases of construction to ensure compliance with plans and specs.
• Perform routine calculations and data entry on computers and iPad.
• Maintain clear communication with engineers, contractors and the public.
