Job summary

Qualifications

  • Graduate of an accredited technical institute or an electronics apprenticeship, or Navy equivalent to C school.
  • At least two years’ experience testing and repairing electronic/electrical equipment.
  • Proficiency with electronic test equipment and various handheld power tools.
  • Ability to obtain DoD Secret clearance and U.S. Passport.

  • Assemble and install or remove towed bodies pier-side and in all weather environments.
  • Travel overseas and within the continental United States on short notice.
  • Perform overtime to meet Navy schedules and support surge work at other TS IMA sites.
  • Operate company trucks, cranes, forklifts, and hand tools as required.
  • Interact with Navy personnel, government staff, and civilian contractors.

Job description

The Towed System Intermediate Maintenance Activity (TS IMA) in San Diego, CA, provides direct fleet support for towed acoustic systems installed on submarines and surface ships, including 24/7/365 worldwide casualty assistance. The role supports shipping, receiving, warehousing, government property administration, and asset tracking.

Primary Responsibilities
  • Conduct physical inspection, electrical testing, and troubleshooting of towed array modules.
  • Assemble and install or remove towed bodies pier‑side and in all weather or warehouse environments.
  • Travel overseas and within the continental United States on short notice.
  • Perform occasional overtime to meet U.S. Navy operational schedules and support surge work at other Towed System IMAs.
  • Operate company trucks, cranes, forklifts, and handheld power tools as required.
  • Interact with Navy personnel, government staff, and civilian contractors.
Basic Qualifications
  • Graduate of an accredited technical institute or an apprenticeship in electronics, or successful completion of a military electronics course equivalent to U.S. Navy “C” school.
  • At least two years’ experience in testing and repairing electronic/electrical equipment.
  • Proficiency with electronic test equipment and various handheld power tools.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Department of Defense security clearance at the Secret level and a U.S. Passport.
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to lift 40 lbs without assistance.
  • Completion of a background check and physical examination to operate company vehicles.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Prior U.S. military service, preferably in the Navy on platforms utilizing towed sonar systems.
  • Experience with towed sonar arrays (e.g., AN/BQQ‑5, AN/BQQ‑6, AN/BSY‑1, AN/BSY‑2, SQQ‑89, OK‑276, OA‑9070/9070A, OK‑410, OK‑542/542A).
  • Light mechanical maintenance skills and forklift operation capability.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office (O365).
  • Fiber optic certification.
Compensation and Benefits

Base pay is $24.48 per hour. This position is covered under the Service Contract Act and adheres to minimum wage and health‑and‑welfare requirements. Location and Travel

San Diego, CA. Position requires travel overseas and within the continental United States on short notice.
