Job summary

General Dynamics - Ordnance and Tactical Systems in Maine seeks an Engineering Technician II to perform engineering work in production, maintenance or related environments. The role supports engineers, sets up equipment, and monitors tests and experiments while collecting data for reports.

The ideal candidate has vocational/technical training and 1–2 years of relevant experience; a technical degree such as Associate's is preferred, with proficiency in CAE/Drafting tools.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Assist engineers and scientists as they create, modify, and test products and processes.
  • Supports with technical tasks and project support.
  • Sets up equipment and monitors tests and experiments.
  • Inspects products and processes for flaws and identifies areas of improvement.
  • Observes results, collects data, and compiles summaries and reports.
  • Performs extensive research and development during the creation phase of product.
  • Utilizes computer-aided design and drafting equipment during design phase.

Engineering Technician II

Job Locations: US-ME-Saco

Job Summary

Performs engineering work in operations, production, construction or maintenance environments. Responsibilities are within the Engineering Function as a generalist or in a combination of disciplines.

Impact of the Role
  • Requires basic skills in an analytical or scientific method or operational process.
  • Works within clearly defined standard operating procedures and/or scientific methods and adheres to quality guidelines.
  • Works with close supervision.
  • Performs manual tasks according to established procedures.

Required Qualifications

  • Discipline/Major: Technical training preferred.
  • Knowledge, skills & abilities: Technical expertise, ability to understand and follow directions, design expertise, mathematical skills, engineering support, Computer-Aided Engineering (CAE) Software.
Physical Requirements
  • Must be able to remain in a stationary position at a desk and/or computer for extended periods of time.
  • Requires regular movement throughout GD-OTS facilities.
  • May need to stand for long periods of time.
  • Work may require employee to work inside and outside with exposure to changing climate and/or operate machinery.
  • May be requested to work a different shift.
  • Must be willing to work outside normal business hours as required.
  • This position is Safety‑Sensitive.
