Job Summary

The Manufacturing Engineer is responsible for developing, optimizing, and sustaining manufacturing processes to ensure safe, efficient, high quality production. The individual in this role applies expertise in manufacturing methods and related technical disciplines to solve complex problems and drive continuous improvement. Working independently, this individual plans, designs, and enhances processes by leveraging knowledge of product design, materials, tooling, equipment, assembly practices, and quality standards. They analyze workforce use, space needs, and process flow to create optimized layouts that improve throughput and reduce waste. The role also defines required equipment, tools, and processes and may lead project steps while supporting less experienced colleagues.

Essential Functions
  • Develops, evaluates, and improves industrial manufacturing methods, utilizing knowledge of product design, materials and parts, fabrication processes, tooling and production equipment capabilities, assembly methods, and quality control standards.
  • Analyzes and plans workforce utilization, space requirements, and workflow, and designs layout of equipment and workspace for maximum efficiency.
  • Determines the parts, equipment, tools, and processes needed to achieve manufacturing goals according to product specifications.
  • Estimates production times, staffing requirements, and related costs to provide information for management decisions.
  • Communicates manufacturing capabilities, production schedules, or other information to facilitate production processes.
  • Confers with vendors in order to determine specifications of products and arrange equipment, material purchase, and parts.
  • Evaluates products based on specifications and quality standards.
Required Qualifications
  • Required education and experience: Associate's Degree and 2-4 years experience
  • Discipline/Major: Engineering degree required
  • Critical professional related technical skills; computer skills: Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
Preferred Qualifications
  • Preferred education and experience: Bachelor's Degree
  • Knowledge, skills & abilities: Oral and written communication skills. Ability to meet deadlines. Ability to work independently as well as part of a team. Problem‑solving skills. Analytical thinking skills. Design expertise. Leadership skills.

Physical Requirements
  • Must be able to remain in a stationary position at a desk and/or computer for extended periods of time.
  • Requires regular movement throughout GD-OTS facilities.li>
  • Work may require employee to work inside and outside with exposure to changing climate and/or operate machinery.
  • May be requested to work a different shift.
  • This position is Safety‑Sensitive.
Travel Requirements

Up to 25% travel likely.
