Job summary

State of Utah is hiring an Engineering Technician I at the Utah San Rafael State Energy Lab. The role focuses on performing routine chemical and physical processing and analysis of molten salt components using advanced lab instruments, maintaining safety practices, and documenting test results.

Responsibilities include instrument calibration, data reporting, and collaboration with a multidisciplinary team to support lab mandates.

Qualifications

• Pass a beryllium sensitivity blood test.
• Conduct analytical tests and basic experiments with precision.
• Maintain clean, safe lab environment and organized records.
• Assist in QA/QC procedures and SOP documentation.
• Stay updated with industry trends and new techniques.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine chemical and physical processing and testing of molten salt components with specified instruments.
• Maintain accurate lab records and documentation in notebooks and electronic systems.
• Prepare and present results to external research teams and support efforts.
• Demonstrate proficiency by passing testing and proficiency exercises.
• Support calibration, maintenance, and inventory of laboratory equipment and supplies.
• Handle radioactive materials per written procedures and manage inventory.
