Job summary

The Utah Office of Energy Development (OED) is seeking an Engineering Technician to join our team at the Utah San Rafael State Energy Lab. The incumbent will perform routine chemical and physical processing and analysis on molten salt components using a range of instruments and maintain timely reporting and documentation.

Responsibilities include instrument calibration, maintenance, safety compliance, and collaboration with a multidisciplinary team to support lab mandates; the role includes

Qualifications

• Pass a beryllium sensitivity blood test.
• Perform analytical tests and basic experiments with precision.
• Maintain high cleanliness, safety, and organization in the lab.
• Assist in the creation, implementation, and documentation of QA/QC procedures and SOPs.
• Stay updated with industry trends and technologies to improve lab practices.
• Ensure laboratory activities comply with relevant regulatory standards and policies.
• Perform routine maintenance and calibration of lab equipment and coordinate repairs.
• Accurately record, analyze, and report data with detailed notebooks.

Responsibilities

• Conduct routine chemical and physical processing and testing on molten salt components and products.
• Keep accurate experimental records and document all technical records.
• Prepare and present results with external research teams and support research efforts.
• Demonstrate competency in testing and pass proficiency testing.
• Support calibration, maintenance, and documentation of lab equipment.
• Support receiving of laboratory supplies and maintain inventory database.
• Handle radioactive materials per written procedures and maintain Radiological Control proficiency.
• Apply engineering knowledge to assess current systems and provide improvements.
