An established industry player is seeking motivated individuals to join their Resource Management Agency. This role offers the opportunity to engage in spatial analysis, manage data, and create automated workflows that support public works and land surveying. This recruitment will establish an employment list to fill current and future vacancies within the Resource Management Agency. The employment list is expected to last six months. Current vacancy is with the Resource Management Agency located in Visalia.
Schedules are based on departmental needs and may include: 4/10's, 4/9's & 1/4 (four hours), or 5/8's.
Conduct spatial analysis, manage data, and create automated workflows; create maps and presentation documents; geocode for public works, land survey, aviation, public transit, flood control, assessment districts, pavement management systems, and other thematic mapping and geospatial datasets; perform field review and design traffic control devices; prepare contract specifications for construction procedures, materials, and sites; observe, inspect, accept, or reject construction projects.
Level II additional duties: Conduct basic roadway drainage studies; research and prepare legal descriptions; estimate quantities and costs for budgeting and payments; update county maps; coordinate with survey crews and engineers; work with private surveyors; attend training; train and supervise new employees; maintain filing systems; communicate with the public, agencies, and contractors; operate specialized technical equipment.
Guided by education, training, experience, skills, and licenses, the minimum qualifications are as follows:
Level I: High school diploma with courses in algebra, geometry, trigonometry, and drafting, plus two years of civil engineering experience comparable to an Engineering Aid; or two years (60 semester units) of college in engineering, mathematics, sciences, or related fields, substitutable on a year-for-year basis.
Level II: High school diploma with similar coursework, plus two years of responsible engineering experience comparable to an Engineering Technician I, or four years of progressively responsible sub-professional engineering work.
Survey principles, engineering terminology, GIS systems like ArcGIS, construction materials and testing, traffic survey techniques, drafting and design, office procedures, measuring and surveying equipment.
Work effectively with diverse populations; operate office and technical equipment; utilize GIS and other software; interpret technical documents; perform engineering calculations; demonstrate patience and courtesy. Level II: Prepare engineering descriptions, conduct inspections, produce drawings, and supervise.
Valid California driver's license or ability to obtain one.
