ENGINEERING TECHNICIAN I - TEMPORARY - Range 9 / AMEA

DEPARTMENT: Traffic Engineering
HOURS OF WORK: Monday through Friday; 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
LOCATION: 4700 Elmore Road
THIS IS A TEMPORARY FULL‑TIME POSITION THAT MAY NOT EXCEED SIX (6) MONTHS FROM THE DATE OF HIRE.
EMPLOYEES HALEH REHIRED TO ANY POSITION SHALL BE PLACED AT THE ENTRANCE PAY STEP, AND ADVANCEMENT FROM THE ENTRANCE STEP TO THE MAXIMUM STEP WITHIN A PAY GRADE SHALL BE BY SUCCESSIVE STEPS.
REMOTE WORK SCHEDULE OPPORTUNITIES (TELECOMMUTING) MAY BE CONSIDERED AFTER SUCCESSFUL COMPLETION OF PROBATION, AT THE DISCRETION OF MANAGEMENT AND WITH THE APPROVAL OF THE DEPARTMENT HEAD. NOT ALL POSITIONS ARE ELIGIBLE FOR REMOTE WORK PER P&P 40-40.

Under general supervision, assists with field installation, monitoring, retrieval, and maintenance of traffic data collection systems and computer databases. Works in and around heavy traffic during extended periods of time in various weather conditions. Performs traffic studies including vehicle counts, stop‑and‑delay studies, gap studies, radar checks, and pedestrian zone evaluations; compiles and edits data; files and maintains records, and performs other related duties. Investigates requests for traffic information. Other duties as assigned.
