The Municipality of Anchorage seeks a professional engineer or land surveyor for Parks and Recreation engineering projects. You will plan, design, inspect, and maintain facilities, prepare contracts, and advise on major construction problems.
A PE license and Alaska driver’s license are required, with background checks and verification of credentials. Telecommuting may be considered after probation; on-site work is based at 632 W 6th Ave, Anchorage, AK.

These positions are represented by the Anchorage Municipal Employee Association (AMEA) and are subject to the provisions of the current agreement between the Municipality of Anchorage and the AMEA.

Employees who are hired or rehired to any position shall be placed at the entrance pay step, and advancement from the entrance step to the maximum step within a pay grade shall be by successive steps.
This position is eligible for a five percent (5%) additional professional certification pay with a valid State of Alaska Professional Engineering (P.E.) License. Eligible candidates are required to provide evidence of professional certification.
Under general supervision, performs professional engineering or surveying tasks for parks and recreation engineering projects. Responsibilities include planning, designing, constructing, inspecting, and maintaining parks, recreational facilities, and related engineering projects. Prepare contracts, inspect complex construction projects, and advise on major problems of construction. Uses independent judgment and initiative to apply standard engineering or surveying principles, make calculations, and implement minor design changes as needed to ensure a project proceeds according to scope, budget, and schedule. Responds to concerns or complaints from the public regarding park related, drainage, site, or water quality concerns. Other duties as assigned.
Preference will be given to Anchorage Municipal Employees Association (AMEA) employees. AMEA employees who are successful in the screening process will be forwarded to the department for consideration prior to any non-AMEA applicants.

If selected for hire, the appointment in this position will be conditional based upon a satisfactory Municipal Employment Office conducted Background Check. A Background Check encompasses criminal history, verifying education, and verifying dates of employment.
If selected for hire, appointment in this position will be conditional based upon the submission of a current copy of the applicant's Alaska driver's license and a current (dated within 30 days from date requested) copy of his/her Department of Motor Vehicle driving record, including a driving record from previous states if the Alaska driver's license was first issued within one year prior to application, documenting an acceptable driving history.
