Job summary

The State of Louisiana's Department of Transportation and Development (DOTD) seeks an Engineering Technician Consultant in the Road Design section at DOTD Headquarters, based in Baton Rouge. You will help develop roadway construction plans for projects from rural highways to urban freeways and interchanges.

Responsibilities include reviewing plans for compliance with DOTD design standards, supporting quality control, cost estimates, final plan assembly, and assisting with design staff training.

Qualifications

• HS diploma or GED with 4+ years sub-professional engineering experience.
• 24 semester hours in architecture, drafting, engineering, construction management or related fields.
• Bachelor's degree in engineering, engineering technology, construction management or construction technology.

This position is located in the Road Design section at DOTD Headquarters and serves as a member of an in-house Road Design squad responsible for developing roadway construction plans for projects ranging from rural highways to urban freeways and interchanges.

Minimum Qualifications

• Possession of a high school diploma or GED plus four years of sub-professional engineering experience; OR
• Six months of experience in sub-professional engineering, heavy mobile equipment operation, or mobile equipment maintenance plus four years of sub-professional engineering experience; OR
• Twenty-four semester hours in one of the following specialized fields: architecture, cartography, construction management, construction technology, drafting, engineering, engineering graphics, engineering technology, industrial technology, landscape architecture, math, or physics; OR
• A bachelor's degree in engineering, engineering technology, construction management or construction technology.
