Job summary

DOTD-Engineering & Operations in Baton Rouge seeks an Engineering Technician Consultant to join the Road Design section at DOTD Headquarters. You will help develop roadway construction plans for projects ranging from rural highways to urban freeways and interchanges.

Requirements include a high school diploma or GED with four years of sub-professional engineering experience, or related educational credits; or a bachelor’s degree in engineering or construction technology.

• Six months of related experience plus four years of sub-professional engineering experience.
• Twenty-four semester hours in engineering/architecture or related fields.
• A bachelor's degree in engineering, engineering technology, construction management or construction technology.

Responsibilities

• Serves as a member of an in-house Road Design squad developing roadway construction plans for rural to urban projects.
• Reviews plans for compliance with DOTD design standards.
• Assists with quality control, cost estimates and final plan assembly.
• Assists with training of design staff.

About this Position:

This position is located in the Road Design section at DOTD Headquartersand serves as a member of an in-house Road Design squad responsible for developing roadway construction plans for projects ranging from rural highways to urban freeways and interchanges.

Possession of a high school diploma or GED plus four years of sub-professional engineering experience; OR
Six months of experience in sub-professional engineering, heavy mobile equipment operation, or mobile equipment maintenance plus four years of sub-professional engineering experience; OR
Twenty-four semester hours in one of the following specialized fields: architecture, cartography, construction management, construction technology, drafting, engineering, engineering graphics, engineering technology, industrial technology, landscape architecture, math, or physics; OR
A bachelor's degree in engineering, engineering technology, construction management or construction technology.
