Job summary

FMI is seeking a dependable Engineering Technician to join the Manufacturing team in Sanford, ME. You will support production, maintenance and facilities, fabricate fixtures and tools, and help evaluate new equipment under Engineers' guidance.

Responsibilities include equipment prep, troubleshooting, process improvements and root cause analysis, with hands-on fabrication and documentation. A strong safety mindset and teamwork are essential.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED is required.
• 6+ years of technician level work in a manufacturing environment.
• Hands-on industrial experience servicing or assembling mechanical equipment.
• Direct experience with basic fabrication methods, welding, machining, material handling.
• Ability to read, interpret and execute technical documentation including instructions, procedures, drawings, manuals, work orders, production travelers.
• Strong communication and problem-solving skills; works well individually and in a team.
• Basic computer skills: Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook.
• Willingness to pursue relevant technical training to enhance skillset.

Responsibilities

• Supporting initiatives from engineering, production maintenance, and manufacturing operations.
• Preparing new equipment for operation and providing support during implementation and initial production.
• Fabrication or modification of fixtures, tools, jigs, etc. to support equipment and processes.
• Troubleshooting and resolving equipment issues with the maintenance team.
• Providing engineering support to production during equipment trials or process changes.
• Following all safety practices for handling materials and operating processes.
• Operating with a safety-first attitude and awareness of hazards.
• Utilizing Microsoft Office applications.
• Using PPE as required (respirators, goggles, visors, gloves, etc.).
• Participating in root cause analysis investigations and communicating findings.
• Implementing process improvements and Lean initiatives.
