Job summary

Dauch Corporation is seeking an Engineering Technician to join our Royal Oak, Michigan team on the 2nd shift. This onsite role leads the design, testing, installation, and maintenance of large-scale electrical equipment used in manufacturing, addressing non-routine problems with a blend of technical and business context.

The candidate will work with diverse industrial systems, program and troubleshoot PLCs and VFDs, ensure safety and code compliance, maintain drawings, and support supplier

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • 5+ years of relevant experience in industrial electrical/controls roles.
  • Experience in a union manufacturing environment within the automotive industry.

Responsibilities

  • Maintains, repairs, installs, replaces, or rebuilds a diverse range of industrial manufacturing equipment and systems.
  • Programs, edits, troubleshoots, and wires PLCs, variable frequency drives (VFDs), and components on production machines and related equipment.
  • Troubleshoots, tests, repairs, and calibrates electrical, electronic, and induction heating equipment.
  • Handles maintenance and repair of electrical systems for facility and production equipment, including wiring in accordance with code.
  • Safely operates the articulated boom and scissor lift, ascends stairs, and works on elevated mezzanines.
  • Evaluates control systems, products, components, and applications.
  • Evaluates new manufacturing and control technologies, adapting into specifications as appropriate.
  • Confirms control system functionality, including appropriate safety compliance, by designing and/or executing test procedures.
  • Prepares and/or reviews electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic controls drawings; collaborates with related engineering teams to evaluate components, materials, and suppliers.
  • Ensures integrity of process and build data collection.
  • Provides information to manufacturing, process, and other engineering disciplines by answering questions and requests.
  • Keeps equipment operating by performing periodic audits; troubleshooting breakdowns; requesting supplies; defining and reviewing preventive maintenance plans; calling for repairs; and implementing process improvements.
  • Maintains project documents using approved methodology, tools, and templates.
  • Manages supplier development and delivery.
  • All other duties as assigned.

The Engineering Technician leads the design, testing, installation, and maintenance of large-scale electronic equipment or machinery for use in manufacturing. Required Skills and Education
  • High School Diploma or GED.
