Job Description Summary

Dauch is looking for a Senior Manufacturing Engineer to join our team in Detroit, MI! The Senior Manufacturing Engineer provides direction and engineering support for production, testing, and maintenance of a manufacturing operation. Provides engineering support to shop floor. Tests manufactured products to maintain quality. Participates in refinement of engineering systems and processes. Resolves or coordinates the resolution of complex technical issues on the assembly line and in the manufacturing process. Leads technical design, development, and process equipment testing for assigned products. Assists in the preparation of proposals on products for customers. Establishes processes to eliminate defects. Provides continuous improvement to manufacturing process and product designs.

Job Description:
  • Develops manufacturing equipment purchase proposals by studying manufacturing plans and commitments; evaluating manufacturing processes and requirements.
  • Recommends new manufacturing equipment by identifying vendors and operating equipment, including control devices; evaluating equipment capabilities and service history; evaluating vendor service and support.
  • Completes equipment cost projections by analyzing investment, return, and savings.
  • Monitors equipment installations by advising crews.
  • Meets production requirements by designing equipment modifications.
  • Prepares equipment operators by conducting training; providing reference and support resources.
  • Maintains process integrity by developing and updating policies, procedures, methods, and guidelines.
  • Maintains equipment records by filing documents; updating equipment database.
  • Protects organization value by keeping information confidential; cautioning others regarding potential breaches.
  • Contributes to engineering and organization success by welcoming related, different, and new requests; helping others accomplish job results.
  • All other duties as assigned.
Required Skills and Education
  • Bachelor's degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related engineering discipline.
  • 5+ years of manufacturing engineering experience, preferably within automotive manufacturing.
  • Proven experience supporting new product launches, APQP activities, and production readiness.
  • Experience with highly automated manufacturing environments.
  • Demonstrated success leading process improvement and cost reduction initiatives.
  • Experience working for a Tier 1 automotive supplier or OEM preferred.
