Job Description:

Tests raw materials and fabricates coated electrodes, sub-arc fluxes, and flux-cored formulations as required by the R&D engineering staff. Supports R&D engineers by providing verbal and/or written reports on the results of trial formulations. This position reports to the Senior Manager of Research & Development at our Hanover, PA facility.

Key Duties & Responsibilities:

1. Perform all necessary job assignments from weigh-up through fabrication and packaging.
2. Identify all lab trial formulations.
3. Test physical properties of experimental raw materials.
4. Maintain inventory of all supplies, including steel and raw materials needed for production.
5. Assist with R&D formulations.
6. Keep SDS sheets and HMIS labeling of all lab materials up to date.
7. Assist with issuing experimental numbers for new raw material sources.
8. Help issue and maintain purchasing specifications for steel and raw materials.
9. Coordinate production trial runs to test new formulations or sources of materials.
10. Assist with basic weld testing for R&D projects.
11. Maintain lab extrusion and wire fabrication/drawing equipment.
12. Maintain confidentiality of all work, projects, materials, processes, and data.
13. Perform other duties as needed within the lab.
14. Adhere to all safety policies and practices.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

1. High School diploma or equivalent at minimum.
2. 3-5 years of relevant experience.
3. Experience with filler metal manufacturing preferred.
4. Basic knowledge of computer systems and Microsoft Office.
5. Ability to operate mechanical equipment safely.
6. Self-motivated with willingness to undertake various responsibilities.
7. Accurate with numerical data.
8. Team-oriented and collaborative.
