Job summary

Navajo Tribal Utility Authority (NTUA) seeks a skilled drafter/surveyor to support engineering line designs and feasibility studies for utility extensions. You will prepare as-built drawings, assist with work orders and coordinate with NTUA staff on project changes, while conducting field surveys and obtaining necessary clearances.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Vocational/specialized training in AutoCAD, engineering and/or surveying.
  • 2–3 years of drafting, staking and surveying experience.
  • 2–3 years of experience with electric, gas and water/wastewater operations.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, Outlook).
  • Valid Driver's License (subject to motor vehicle record review).

Responsibilities

  • Prepare engineering line designs, drafting and feasibility cost estimates for utility extension reservation wide.
  • Prepare as-built drawings from data on completed work orders.
  • Assist with issuing work order numbers and filing documents.
  • Coordinate changes and/or additions of work orders with NTUA personnel.
  • Assist in surveying proposed or existing facilities.
  • Assist and/or obtain right-of-way, archaeological clearances and similar field clearances.
  • Represent NTUA at meetings with customers, consultants and contractors on assigned projects.
  • Maintain NTUA work order status log and report status to supervisor.
  • Maintain maps and perform field verifications and check completed maps.
  • Mark points of measurement with elevation, station number or other identifying marks.
  • Contact customers to investigate conditions and/or obtain information for new service requests.
  • Process telephone and television cable companies on joint use applications.
  • Performs other duties as assigned or requested.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES AND PERFORMANCE OBJECTIVES:
