Job summary

Socket.dev is seeking a hands-on Lab Technician to support the development team by procuring materials, fabricating electromechanical components, assembling product samples, and assisting with prototype development.

You will work closely with Engineering to run validation tests, document results, and help capture system documentation, including fabrication of electronic cables and test reports.

Qualifications

  • Associate degree or equivalent experience.
  • Experience in product development or test lab environments.
  • Ability to effectively use typical electronic test and measurement equipment.
  • Ability to read mechanical drawings, electronic schematics, assembly drawings and product descriptions.
  • Experience in fabrication of metal parts (mill, lathe, mechanically inclined).
  • Experience in soldering electronic components (thru-hole and SMT).
  • Working knowledge of MS Office to include Windows, Word, and Excel.
  • Ability to work both independently and on a team.
  • Ability to meet physical requirements of the job including sitting and standing, and repetitive motions.
  • Ability to work well in a fast paced, changing environment.
  • Ability to lift, push, pull and carry materials up to 10 lbs.
  • Ability to operate tools, machinery or office equipment safely.
  • Ability to work near moving mechanical parts and moderate noise levels.
  • Ability to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE).

Description

This position provides a high level of support for the development team by procuring needed materials, fabricating components (mechanical and electrical), assembling product samples, product testing and supporting prototype developments. This position works closely with Engineering.

  • Procurement of components required to assemble test samples and test materials.
  • Fabrication of components and assembly of electromechanical products.
  • Building of prototype test samples using engineering assembly drawings.
  • Execution of validation tests of new product systems.

  • Assist in the documentation of the systems.

Requirements
