Job summary

MKS Inc. is seeking a highly skilled technician to join our precision engineering team in Andover, MA. You will construct, test, and debug precision flow instruments, and prototype electro-mechanical packaging for advanced products.

You'll work with mechanical, electrical, and firmware engineers, using hand tools and test equipment, performing data analysis in Excel, and assisting with lab setup and safety. U.S. citizenship or permanent residence required.

Qualifications

  • Associate degree or equivalent technician experience is required.
  • Minimum 4+ years of related experience in precision systems.
  • Ability to read drawings and follow written and verbal descriptions.

Responsibilities

  • Construct, debug, and test precision flow measurement and control instrumentation.
  • Collaborate with mechanical, electrical and firmware engineers to enhance performance.
  • Prototype advanced electro-mechanical packaging for precision products.
  • Build cable assemblies and wire low-voltage connections.
  • Design, debug, and implement new assembly processes with documentation.
  • Set up tests, collect and analyze data.
  • Maintain general lab organization and safety.

You Will Make an Impact By:
  • Construct, debug, and test precision flow measurement and control instrumentation
  • Work alongside Engineers from multiple disciplines (mechanical, electrical and firmware) to understand issues and enhance performance of precision systems
  • Prototype advanced electro-mechanical packaging for precision products
  • Building cable assemblies; wiring of low-voltage power and communications connections
  • Design, debug, and implement new assembly processes (including documentation)
  • Set up tests, collect and analyze data
  • General lab organization and maintenance
Skills You Bring:
  • Requires an Associate degree or equivalent technician experience
  • Minimum of 4+ years of related experience
  • Strong communication skills, ability to work from drawings as well as written and verbal descriptions
  • Experience working with precision mechanical, electrical and electromechanical assemblies
  • Proficiency with a variety of hand and small power tools, soldering stations
  • Experience with standard electronics testing equipment (oscilloscope, logic analyzer, etc.)
  • Use of Microsoft Excel for data analysis
  • Any of the following are a plus:
  • Previous work with a development engineering team supporting prototyping
  • Developing jigs and fixtures for precision assemblies
  • PCBA troubleshooting and SMT rework/repair ability
  • Familiarity with LabView
  • Experience or exposure to embedded software development
  • Familiarity with vacuum products and instrumentation
  • This position is limited to US Citizens or Permanent Residents
Physical Demands and Working Conditions:
  • Perform activities such as sitting, standing, or typing for extended periods of time
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Regularly requires good manual dexterity and coordination
  • Occasionally moves/positions objects up to 30 pounds
  • Ability to remain in a stationary position for 80% of the time
  • Frequently positions self to perform tasks and positions objects below, at, and above shoulder level
  • Regularly requires manual dexterity and coordination of objects below, at and above shoulder level
  • Must be able to communicate information and ideas so others will understand
  • Must be able to exchange accurate information
  • Operates in a professional office and/or laboratory/manufacturing environment
  • Constantly operates a computer and other office productivity machinery
  • Ability to observe documents and details at close range (within a few feet of the observer)
  • Dedication to safety to mitigate hazards including handling mechanical and electrical hardware, high voltage, gas, water, and heat
  • Noise level in the work environment is usually average
Compensation and Benefits:

Pay Range: $30.48 - 50.80 per hour. This range is a good faith estimate of the expected salary range for this position, based on a wide range of factors including qualifications, experience and training, operational and business needs and other considerations permitted by law.At MKS, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for the role.

Bonus: This position is eligible for a discretionary annual bonus, in an amount to be determined by MKS [or as applicable].
