Job summary

MKS Instruments in Bailey, NY is seeking an Engineering Technician 3 to partner with Systems and Design Engineering to test and troubleshoot the next generation of RF Plasma generators. You will report to one of the Systems Engineering Managers.

The role involves supporting design, test, modification, fabrication and assembly of prototype electro-mechanical systems, with emphasis on analog/digital/logic testing. A strong emphasis on hands-on troubleshooting and lab work.

Qualifications

• Associate degree or equivalent technician experience.
• Minimum of 2+ years of related experience.

Responsibilities

• Support design, test, checkout, modification, fabrication and assembly of prototype electro-mechanical systems.
• Test and troubleshoot using schematics, diagrams, and layouts to collect design data.
• Perform operational tests and fault isolation on systems and equipment.
• Assist in designing, constructing, testing and checkout of test equipment.
• Work with measurement and diagnostic equipment such as oscilloscopes and signal generators.

A Day in Your Life at MKS:

As an Engineering Technician 3 at MKS Instruments you will partner with Systems and Design Engineering to test and troubleshoot the next generation of RF Plasma generators. In this role, you will report to one of the Systems Engineering Managers.

You will make an impact by:

• Supporting engineering activities such as design, test, checkout, modification, fabrication and assembly of prototype electro-mechanical systems, experimental design circuitry or specialized test equipment
• Applications may include analog, digital and/or logic systems
• Working from schematics, diagrams, written and verbal descriptions, layouts or defined plans to perform testing, checkout and troubleshooting functions
• Conducting engineering tests and detailed experimental testing to collect design data or assist in research work
• Performing operational test and fault isolation on systems and equipment
• Assisting in determining methods or actions to remedy malfunctions
• Assisting in the design, construction, test and check-out of test equipment
• Using manufacturing test, development or diagnostic equipment including but not limited to such equipment as oscilloscopes, signal generators and specialized test apparatus which may require software skills

Skills you bring:

• Requires an Associate degree or equivalent technician experience
• Minimum of 2+ years of related experience

Physical Demands & Working Conditions:

• Perform activities such as sitting, standing, or typing for extended periods of time
• Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.
• Regularly requires good manual dexterity and coordination
• Occasionally moves/positions objects up to 35 pounds
• Ability to remain in a stationary position for 75% of the time
• Frequently positions self to perform tasks and positions objects below, at, and above shoulder level

Pay Range: $25.88 - 43.13 per hour. This range is a good faith estimate of the expected salary range for this position, based on a wide range of factors including qualifications, experience and training, operational and business needs and other considerations permitted by law.At MKS, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for the role.

Bonus: This position is eligible for a discretionary annual bonus, in an amount to be determined by MKS [or as applicable].
