Key job responsibilities
  1. Supervise contractors who perform servicing or preventive maintenance.
  2. Operate and maintain mechanical and electrical equipment.
  3. Perform root cause analysis of equipment failures.
  4. Troubleshooting of facility and rack-level events within internal SLA.
  5. Ensure all safety procedures are adhered to while performing work.
  6. Able to work a 12 hour shift (rotating 3 to 4 day work weeks).
  7. Take daily operational readings of all mechanical and electrical equipment.
  8. Utilize internal management systems to coordinate building workflows.
Physical Requirements
  1. All physical requirements are expected with reasonable accommodations
  2. Walk job sites in uneven terrain.
  3. Work at heights and from ladders.
  4. Regularly lift and/or move up to 49 pounds; and participate in group lifts for 50 pounds or more.
  5. Work shifts longer than eight hours in duration.
  6. Coordinate body movements when using tools or equipment
  7. Reach and stretch to position equipment and fixtures while maintaining balance
  8. Bend or twist the body into unusual positions while working
  9. Perform physical tasks all day without becoming overly tired
  10. Use hands to manipulate small wires and objects
  11. Push or pull heavy objects into position
  12. Work in a noisy environment
  13. Work at depths, such as under raised floors
A day in the life

This role acts as Amazon’s front line when it comes to hands-on electrical and mechanical equipment preventative maintenance (PM) and troubleshooting, reporting to a site’s Data Center Facility Manager (FM). They will maintain, operate, and troubleshoot mission-critical data center facility equipment including stand-by diesel generators and related fuel systems, 3 phase electrical systems such as switchgear, UPS units, PDUs, and wet cell batteries and associated systems. Mechanical equipment includes CRAHU units, centrifugal chillers, cooling towers, water systems, air handlers and associated systems, pumps, and motors. Additional support equipment is included in the scope of the role which includes fire/life safety equipment, building automation systems, and general facilities equipment.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
  1. Technical (Military/Trade School) training or 2+ years’ of equivalent experience in a relevant industry (for example: electrical or mechanical)
  2. 2+ years of electrical or mechanical experience
  3. 2+ years’ experience with Microsoft Office products (including Excel, Word and PowerPoint)
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  1. 4+ years of Data Center Engineering experience
  2. Associates or Bachelor’s Degree
