Amazon Web Services Infrastructure Services team provides comprehensive technical support throughout the design, planning, delivery, and operation of Amazon Web Services infrastructure. We support data centers and the servers, storage, networking, power, and cooling equipment that ensure the customers of Amazon Web Services have continual access to the innovation they rely on. We work on the most challenging problems, with thousands of variables impacting the supply chain — and we’re looking for talented people who want to help.
You’ll join a diverse team of software, hardware, and network engineers, supply chain specialists, security experts, operations technical support managers, and other vital roles. You’ll collaborate with people across Amazon and our operating partners to help Amazon Web Services deliver the highest standards for safety and security while providing seemingly infinite capacity at the lowest possible cost for the customers. Data Center Technical Support Engineering Operations Technician (EOT) is responsible for operating and maintaining all electrical, mechanical, and fire/life safety equipment within the data center. The EOT serves as a technical resource to support Amazon data centers. Data center equipment that supports mission-critical servers must maintain better than 99.999% uptime. EOTs are also tasked with driving innovation while reducing operational costs in the facilities.
EOTs are data center's front line responders for support electrical and mechanical equipment troubleshooting and operation. This equipment includes, but is not limited to, stand-by diesel generators, switchgear, UPSs, PDUs, AHUs, chillers, cooling towers, chemical treatment systems, pumps, motors, VFDs, and building automation systems.
Key job responsibilities
Responsibilities:
- Support maintenance of mechanical and electrical equipment
- Assist root cause analysis of equipment failures
- Assist in troubleshooting of facility and rack-level events within internal SLA
- Ensure all safety procedures are adhered to while performing work
- Support daily operational readings of all mechanical and electrical equipment
- Able to work a 12-hour shift to support 24/7 operations (rotating 3 to 4 day work weeks)
- Bachelor's degree with 4+ years of relevant work experience.
- Proficiency in spoken and written English, strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong Safety Awareness
- 6+ years of operations and on-call support for data center facilities, mission critical plants, or production facilities experience
- Data center relevant work experience.
- Basic team management skill.
- Knowledge of key electrical competencies and theory and generic mechanical room infrastructure such as chillers, cooler units, and fan controls
