Job summary

Metric Geo is seeking a Substation Engineering Manager to lead owner-side substation packages on major high- voltage transmission projects in the U.S. This role involves coordinating with EPC and engineering consultants, reviewing complex substation designs, and supporting equipment selection and constructability across 230kV+ AIS/GIS facilities.

The position offers fully remote work with up to 25% travel and aims to develop exposure to large HVDC projects within a dynamic, fast-growing

Qualifications

• 6+ years of substation engineering experience.
• EPC or engineering consulting background preferred.
• Experience leading multidisciplinary engineering packages.
• Strong technical design review and stakeholder management skills.
• PE license preferred.

Responsibilities

• Owning substation engineering packages from development through detailed design and construction.
• Managing and challenging external EPC and engineering consultants.
• Reviewing primary, physical, P&C and multidisciplinary substation designs.
• Supporting equipment selection, procurement and constructability.
• Managing technical scope, schedule, risk and project interfaces.

I’m supporting a fast-growing transmission developer looking to add a Substation Engineering Manager to its engineering team

This is an owner-side position working across major high-voltage transmission projects, with exposure to some of the most significant interregional and HVDC infrastructure currently being developed in the U.S.

The role will involve:

• Owning substation engineering packages from development through detailed design and construction
• Managing and challenging external EPC and engineering consultants
• Reviewing primary, physical, P&C and multidisciplinary substation designs
• Supporting equipment selection, procurement and constructability
• Managing technical scope, schedule, risk and project interfaces
